Cars in Germany's City Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.

Officers then found many other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.

A high-ranking official commented the vandalism left him without words and required to be resolved promptly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
